We’ve officially entered Algorand Governance Period 13, and this one is especially significant — it’s likely one of the final Governance periods before the transition to Consensus Rewards. This means it’s more important than ever to make your voice heard in shaping the future of the Algorand ecosystem!
Here’s everything you need to know to stay on track for Period 13 with gALGO. And don’t forget — xALGO, the new standard for Liquid Staking, is already live and easier than ever to use.

Important Dates for Period 13:
- Period Starts: September 30, 2024
- gALGO Redemption Window: Closes October 7, 2024 at 15:00 UTC (for gALGO from past Governance commitments)
- Commitment Window Ends: October 14, 2024 at 16:00 UTC
- Voting Opens: November 27, 2024
- Period Ends: December 31, 2024
- Reward Distribution: By January 7, 2025
If you haven’t yet redeemed your gALGO from the previous Governance period, make sure to do so before October 7th. After that, you’ll be able to commit to Period 13 through the Liquid Governance portal with gALGO to continue collecting rewards while keeping your liquidity flexible.
gALGO: Your Flexible Governance Tool
You can mint gALGO and commit it to Governance 13 until October 14th. As always, gALGO allows you to participate in Governance while retaining the flexibility to use your staked ALGO across the Algorand ecosystem.
